Annual Student Registration Opens April 13
Elko County School District families will soon be able to complete annual student registration for the 2026–2027 school year through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Annual registration allows families to review and update important student information, including contact details, emergency contacts, health information, and required district forms. Keeping this information current helps schools communicate effectively with families and plan for the upcoming school year.
The registration window opens Monday, April 13 for all new and returning students, including Pre-K and Kindergarten enrollment.
Families are encouraged to complete registration as soon as possible to assist schools with scheduling, staffing, transportation planning, and other preparations for the upcoming school year.
Families who need assistance can:
• Contact their child’s school
• Attend an in-person registration help event at the ECSD Central Office in Elko on Thursday, April 16, from 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Access the Parent Portal here:
https://elkonv.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/elko.jsp
Additional reminders and instructions will be shared as the registration window approaches.

📚✨ Students across Elko County School District celebrated Nevada Reading Week with storytelling, community readers, and a special visit from author Brad Herzog.
From March 2–5, Herzog traveled across the district visiting Northside, Jackpot, Owyhee, Carlin, Liberty Peak, Spring Creek, Mountain View, Southside, and Grammar #2 Elementary Schools. Students learned about creativity, imagination, and how even a single detail can change the direction of a story.
One unforgettable moment happened at Mountain View Elementary, where a student named Luke eagerly approached Brad after the presentation to share a book he had written. Brad took time to look through Luke’s work and encourage him to keep writing — a powerful reminder of how inspiring moments like these can spark confidence and creativity in young authors.
Events like Nevada Reading Week bring together teachers, families, and community members to celebrate literacy and encourage students to discover the joy of reading and storytelling.

We are excited that 160 of our students from Elko, Spring Creek, and Jackpot High Schools had the chance to tour the Health Science departments at Great Basin College to see postsecondary healthcare training in action.
The Q&A, lab tours, and interactive demos showed them exactly what their next steps look like. Invest in a skill, invest in a career!

Good afternoon, Jackpot Families,
I want to provide an update and clarify some misconceptions regarding the boiler malfunction on Tuesday morning. The issue is limited to the secondary building, and the elementary building, shop, and modulars are not affected. At no time have students reported feeling too cold in the high school building. Maintenance workers have assessed the issue, and parts are on order, with repairs scheduled for Tuesday morning. Currently, there is no hot water in the high school or kitchen, so cold lunches will be served Monday and Tuesday. Warm water for handwashing is available in the elementary building and modulars, and hand sanitizer is provided in the secondary building. The high school building is colder than usual, but we are using space heaters to help maintain comfortable temperatures, and teachers are closely monitoring classrooms. Further details are available in the email shared with you from the school district. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Mrs. McCarthy

GBC CTE Open House: Happening Tomorrow!

The Nevada School Climate/Social Emotional Learning Survey (NV-SCSEL) is used to gather student feedback about their experiences at school. The NV-SCSEL surveys are administered to students in grade 5 and up throughout the state of Nevada during the fall of each school year.
The NV-SCSEL surveys measure students’ perceptions of key aspects of school climate, including physical and emotional safety, relationships, and cultural and linguistic competence, as well as students’ social and emotional competencies.
The survey is an opportunity for students to anonymously share their experiences of their school’s climate with their school, school district, and NDE. To learn more about the survey, visit nevadaschoolclimate.org.
Elko County School District will be administering the survey to students (5th -12th grade) between November 20th and December 14th , 2023.
Parents can preview the survey here: https://5il.co/28q0d
Questions on the survey are optional. Students can choose not to answer any question they do not want to answer.
Parents can opt their child(ren) out of participating in the survey by contacting their child(ren)’s school. If you have any questions about the NV-SCSEL survey, please contact your child(ren)’s school.
